How It’s Going

For the Curious

I’ve written 45 pages. Some of them are good. Most of them will need attention.

For the Sarcastic

No, the screenplay does not consist of one page of dialogue and 44 pages of stage direction. No, it is not written in 14pt, and no, it is not triple-spaced.

What’s it About?

Still not saying. But I will once all is said and done.

General Consensus

So far, I’m feeling good about the script, and enjoying the process. The 30-day deadline has been a fantastic motivator; I’m averaging about five pages a day, which puts me ahead of schedule. I’m surprised but pleased to find myself within spitting distance of the halfway mark. Barring a monumental creative collapse, I should be editing before the month is up. Whether I’ll want to at that point is another matter altogether…

  • Weeks

Again, nicely done. Although, I wouldn’t just hit that 120-page mark and then start editing… Maybe consider writing for the full month, even if you are finished, just keep going, possibly on another project, or the sequel to this one (you know, when the antagonist and protagonist make amends and team up against a second antagonist…) Wait until the 30 days are up before you edit anything, see where the process takes you.

That’s great to hear, Drew. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Weeks, great idea. I’m going to name one of my characters ‘Apollo,’ and in the sequel his father can rebuild his empire and strike back with a vengeance, or the wrath of Khan, or do the Electric Boogaloo. It’ll be huge.

I feel totally special now since you told me what it’s about…at least in a loose, general sense.
