Lucky Number Slevin

Despite an occasionally confusing ride, Lucky Number Slevin ranks up there with Ocean’s Eleven and The Score as a must-see contemporary con film. Stacked with talent including Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley, Stanley Tucci, Bruce Willis and Lucy Liu, the film is carried surprisingly well by Josh Hartnett. Give him and this film a chance; you won’t be disappointed. A.

I liked this movie. Wouldn’t give it an A but it had nice pacing. Actually reminded me of Snatch in that the plot gets a little too cute for its own good sometimes but it still has a decent payoff. I grade on the premise that C is average. so I would give it a B.

I graded high because the film genuinely surprised me at numerous times. The first fifteen minutes had me wondering if the movie was going to be a stinker, but then things kicked into high gear and I realized it wasn’t going to stumble and die on me. Now if only it had Jennifer Aniston in it, right?

I didn’t mind this movie. But, apparently there is only one Josh Hartnett. Watch Black Dahlia (not because it’s good) and you’ll see he is exactly the same. I liked Lucy Liu and of course Bruce Willis – made me want to watch Last Boy Scout again.

Just saw this last night – wow… I thought it was great. Had kind of forgotten the premise… Almost had a ‘Usual Suspects’ type feel to it, with then ending and all, and Ben Kingsley was terrific. I also think whoever the se designer was should win all sorts of awards. Every interior was so full of detail and patterns, yet not in an overwhelming, schmaltzy way…

Totally agree. The set design was stellar.
